General Information
The Office of the Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Science (FVSc), Assam Veterinary and Fishery University functions as the principal academic and administrative authority for veterinary education under the University. The office is responsible for coordination and supervision of academic, students' welfare and students' research activities of the constituent veterinary colleges. It ensures implementation of academic regulations, maintenance of professional standards and smooth conduct of undergraduate programmes in accordance with the guidelines of the Veterinary Council of India (VCI), while postgraduate and Ph.D. programmes are conducted as per the guidelines and recommendations of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). The office also promotes faculty development, institutional planning and academic excellence in veterinary sciences.
Activities and Responsibilities of the Office of the Dean, AVFU, Khanapara:
- 1. Supervision and coordination of academic activities of the constituent veterinary colleges under the Faculty of Veterinary Science.
- 2. Implementation of academic regulations, curriculum and professional standards prescribed by the Veterinary Council of India (VCI) for undergraduate veterinary education.
- 3. Coordination and monitoring of postgraduate and Ph.D. academic programmes in accordance with the guidelines and recommendations of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR).
- 4. Preparation and implementation of academic calendars, class schedules and teaching programmes of the Faculty.
- 5. Supervision of student academic matters including admission, registration, attendance, examination and academic progression.
- 6. Coordination of internship, clinical training and other professional training programmes for veterinary students.
- 7. Monitoring of student research activities related to postgraduate and doctoral programmes.
- 8. Organization and supervision of examinations and maintenance of academic discipline within the Faculty.
- 9. Coordination with Heads of Departments, Directors and other academic authorities for smooth functioning of teaching and academic activities.
- 10. Promotion of faculty development programmes, academic workshops, seminars and professional training activities.
- 11. Supervision of matters related to accreditation, academic inspection and compliance with statutory requirements.
- 12. Coordination of student welfare, extracurricular and academic support activities in association with the Directorate of Students' Welfare and other concerned offices.
- 13. Facilitation of academic collaborations, educational programmes and professional interactions with national and international institutions.
- 14. Maintenance and development of academic infrastructure, teaching facilities and learning resources within the Faculty.
- 15. Execution of all other academic and administrative responsibilities assigned by the Vice-Chancellor from time to time.
